NEW HARBOUR, NL – The RCMP’s ongoing investigation into an alleged home invasion that occurred at a residence in New Harbour on Feb. 7 has resulted in charges against a second person.
According to an RCMP news release issued today, Feb. 12, Jarrod Roberts, 28, of Whitbourne has been charged with robbery, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, uttering threats and breach of recognizance.
Roberts appeared in Harbour Grace Provincial Court today. A bail hearing for the accused is scheduled for Tuesday.
Jamie Alfred Michael Phillips of St. John’s was previously charged in connection with the incident.
Phillips, 27, was initially charged with assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threats to cause death and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. His bail hearing was still in progress as of late Monday afternoon. Earlier in the day, new charges were formally laid against Phillips — unlawfully committing robbery and unlawfully being in a dwelling.
