The Scotiabank on Water Street in downtown St. John's was involved in a robbery today (Friday).
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was on scene and the branch closed, with a note on the door saying it had been involved in an emergency/robbery incident and police were investigating.
The RNC received a call about an armed robbery at the Scotia Bank on Water Street at 11:50 a.m. Friday morning.
RNC confirm that a 21-year-old woman was put in custody shortly after the bank robbery.
The woman was wearing a solid white mask when she held up the bank with a rock, police say.
She was stopped by passersby, say RNC, and bystanders helped to return money that had fallen on the floor.
