MOUNT PEARL, N.L. — Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers had to deploy a "tire deflation system" to stop a fleeing vehicle early this morning in Mount Pearl.

Police spotted a suspicious vehicle without any plates on Frontenac Avenue in Mount Pearl. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver fled.

Once immobilized, police arrested the 17-year-old male driver and charged him with flight from police and dangerous driving.

He spent the night in custody and will appear before a provincial court judge this morning.
