It has been one month since Trevor Hamlyn was last seen in the area of Imogene Crescent in Paradise, and the search effort, lead by his sister, Ashely Hamlyn, goes on.
In a recent post in the Facebook group “Have You Seen Trevor Hamlyn Aka Pepsi?” Ashley asks Paradise residents and businesses to check their security camera footage from Saturday, June 16 between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. if they are located near Trails End Drive, Topsail Road, Paradise Road or the surrounding area.
Many security camera memory cards begin overwriting old footage after 30 days, meaning that anyone who potentially has footage of Hamlyn will need to check their cameras as soon as possible to see if they have any recordings of Hamlyn.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has gone door to door in the area asking people to check their security camera footage from June 16.
The RNC’s major crime unit has confirmed that a smartphone found during an independent ground search for Hamlyn on June 25 belongs to Hamlyn. Though investigators have concluded canvassing the area, they ask that any motorists with dashboard cameras that may have been turned on in the area on June 16 to contact them.
Other security cameras such as closed-circuit television, weather cameras and dashboard cameras or any other device that is regularly recording could potentially have footage of Hamlyn that may aid in the search effort.
“We’re asking people just to try and see if they can see Trevor or any vehicles that aren’t usually in the area,” Ashley said.
They are unsure if Hamlyn was on foot, or was picked up in a vehicle. Ashley added that no one has found any footage since the post was made over the weekend, but every security system is different and has different memory capacity.
Police continue to investigate and are asking that anyone with information call the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Anonymous information, including anything found on security footage, can be reported on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
